UFC president “Dana White” gave us an update about the UFC lightweight division and its potential future. Dana said he believes that “Khabib Nurmagomedov” has not retired and will try to reach the 30-0 mark and the upcoming main event fight between “Conor Mcgregor” and “Dustin Poirier” will not be for the belt.

Recently, Khabib Nurmagomedov, on Instagram, revealed that despite the fact that he announced his retirement post-winning his bout against “Justin Gaethje” at UFC 254 via submission, USADA came to test him for the  47th time in his career. This led to many fans questioning the legitimacy of Khabib’s retirement claims.

Dana White said “I didn’t know that happened,” He went on and said to the reporters “I told you guys that I think he’s gonna go to [30-0]. If he’s still testing, why the hell would you want to test if you’re not gonna fight?

Dana further made this statement “He hasn’t committed, but I feel like he’s gonna. I’m not really pushing him. We talked about it and he just fought. Let him take some time, spend some time with his family, spend the holidays. There’s no rush.”

Despite the fact that no official announcements have been made, it is most likely that 2021’s first UFC event, UFC 257, will be headlined with the rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The fight will take place in Abu Dhabi.

Dana White did not clarify whether this would be a one-time stop or another multi-week run on Fight Island. However, what he did clarify was that this was not a title fight. “No, [it won’t be for the title],” White said. “Khabib’s gonna fight. I believe he’s gonna fight. It’s not for the title.”

It is clear from his words that Dana believes Khabib, who is still the champion of the lightweight division, will return and try to cement his legacy further by achieving the record of 30-0.
