Conspiracy against Celtics stars? NBA vets react to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown getting poor Team USA treatment
Boston Celtics duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown either did not play or played very little for Team USA at Olympics.

Performing for one’s national team is supposed to be a matter of honor and a mark that the said athlete is one of the best. Especially if said athlete or player is invited. Jayson Tatum received his invitation to join Team USA long before he led his Boston Celtics to an NBA Championship. That invitation though, did not extend to his teammate and NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown. That and other incidents prompted some to wonder what was going on.
Former players Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford were discussing while on The Underground Lounge. When the topic came to Team USA and what has transpired, Williams weighed in on the same.
Is there a conspiracy theory going on against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown? I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole concept of Jaylen Brown not being on that team. The league trying to pit them against each other. I’ve never seen that. And now you got JT not getting minutes.Lou Williams said
Former NBA 6th Man of the Year Jamal Crawford agreed that even he thought the league was trying to break them up for years. Which is why they used the opportunity surrounding the Olympics to do that. According to them, the NBA first did not select Jaylen Brown as part of the 12 players. Then when a slot opened up, they brought in his teammate Derrick White. They gave the logic that his fit was more important to the team than just filling up with superstars.
However, many including Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford did not understand why Team USA did not give Jayson Tatum minutes at the Olympics. That was a blatant disregard for his abilities. In fact, Jrue Holiday and White played more minutes at the Paris Olympics.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s Olympics future
Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are much older than the two leading Boston Celtics superstars. Therefore, there is a slim chance either of them will be a part of Team USA when Los Angeles 2028 comes around. However, the Jay’s, i.e. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, will be in their prime.
If they continue to improve at their current trajectory, it will be difficult for Team USA and the NBA to ignore them. Or even give sporadic minutes. Rather, they should be the core of the next Olympics squad alongside Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton.
There are still four years left before those decisions can be made. Even then, both Tatum and Brown have placed themselves in prime positions to be the leading superstars of the next Olympics. The only way neither of them play is if the injury bug bites them.
