Four years ago, on Valentine’s Day Eve, Cooper Kupp rushed eight times for 92 yards and two touchdowns, steering the Los Angeles Rams past the Cincinnati Bengals and securing the first Super Bowl ring of his career. Now, Kupp stands just two games away from a second ring, and one of those games comes against the Rams, the very team for whom he won his first.

After three injury-plagued seasons, the Rams parted ways with the 2021 OPOY and Super Bowl MVP ahead of the 2025 season. Kupp later joined the Seattle Seahawks, where he has played a significant role in shaping the Seahawks’ offensive attack. Though his production remained low, Kupp has taken breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba under his wing.

In the short time with the Seahawks, he has locked horns against his previous team twice. Kupp and the Hawks had the last laugh once in those two meetings as the two teams split the series. As they prepare for their third meeting of the season, this time in the championship, Kupp addressed the media in his signature scruffy beard and a white tank top.

The interaction touched on several points, including the electric atmosphere at Lumen Field, their offensive philosophy, and the team’s mentality, as well as his emotions ahead of the big game. Unfortunately for fans, there isn’t much of it.

No, you take things one day at a time. I mean, I’ve touched on this a little bit (going against his former team), but we all have a story… Mine is just one of 50, 53 that are gonna be on that field. And in my story, this is an unbelievable storyline, the chances that it ends up being what it is, and I’m really excited about that. But this is the Seahawks going into an NFC Championship Game and trying to get the job done.

The Seahawks look forward to first Super Bowl appearance in more than a decade

The Seattle Seahawks previously appeared in a Super Bowl 11 years ago. The Seahawks entered the Super Bowl XLIX as the reigning champions before the New England Patriots got the better of them in a closely fought battle.

The Seahawks, along with the New York Giants, are the only teams with a perfect record in NFC Championship games. As they enter their fourth conference game in history, it’s the third time they will be facing arch rivals Los Angeles Rams, in the playoffs. The Rams and Hawks previously met in the 2021 NFC Wild Card game, where the former defeated the latter 30-20 and advanced to the divisional game.

The Seahawks are favored by many heading into the matchup against the Rams. Although it seemed that Pro Bowl QB Sam Darnold might not be available for the game, he was seen practicing with Cooper Kupp two days ago. The quarterback looked much better than before, none of the oblique issues popping up.

The game is expected to be fought against the clock with Seattle’s elite defense steaming against the league’s best offense. The Rams, boasting the best passing offense, are ranked first in offensive points per game (PPG) and total yards per game (YPG).

On the other hand, the Seahawks’ defense led the league in fewest points allowed per game as well as the DVOA metric. The offensive unit in Seattle is no joke either, with Darnold ranked fifth in passing yards and Smith-Njigba first in receiving yards.

However, they will be missing their star running back, Zach Charbonnet, after his injury during the divisional round.
