“Cooper Kupp not my first choice for best WR”- Domonique Foxworth makes big claim

Rams WR Cooper Kupp created history Tuesday night against the Seahawks. Kupp now holds the record for the ‘Most Receptions in Rams Single-Season Franchise History.’ Kupp created another record when he went over the 90-yard mark for the 10th straight game. Previously, the record was held by former Dallas Cowboy star WR Michael Irvin (1995) and Odell Beckham Jr. (2014), both had nine consecutive games of 90 or more receiving yards.

Mike Greenberg asked Domonique Foxworth on Get Up, “Who is the best wide receiver in the NFL?”. Foxworth responded saying, “If we combine numbers, it’s easily Cooper Kupp”. But if asked otherwise he said, “I’m not taking him first. I’m looking at (Justin) Jefferson or (Davante) Adams or somebody else like that.”

“Cooper Kupp is that guy you go to prom with because the guy you really like didn’t ask you”, said Kimberley Martin. “He’s not the guy that’s gonna blow you away but he always is productive and shows up with flower”, she added. What Martin basically means is that Cooper Kupp is always there when you need him to make big plays and save the day.

“If you just walked the streets and asked football fans … ‘Who’s the best receiver in the NFL?’ I would guess you’d get six or seven answers and NONE of them would be Cooper Kupp. And yet he’s having one of the greatest seasons OF ALL TIME”, said Greenberg.

Cooper Kupp has been the centerpiece of the Rams’ offense this year. Kupp is on his way to winning the receiver triple crown – leading in catches, yards, and touchdown receptions. The star receiver already leads the league with 122 catches, 1625 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

Could Kupp be the first WR to win an MVP?

No WR in the history of the NFL has ever won the MVP award. To have a shot for the MVP, Kupp would have to break Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving record which is 1,964 yards. He needs 339 or more yards in the next three weeks. Kupp is currently averaging 116.1 yards per game. If he continues with this average, he can easily beat Johnson’s record with 9 yards to spare in Week 18. It would be a treat for every NFL fan if Cooper Kupp won the MVP this year.

“Cooper Kupp is having one of the greatest seasons any receiver ever had in the history of the sport”, added Greenberg.
