The former OPOY and Super Bowl champion Cooper Kupp reportedly didn’t heed to the pleas of the Dallas Cowboys stars before finalising the deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb personally reached out to the former Los Angeles Rams receiver to discuss the possibility of joining the Cowboys.

The Cowboys had shown interest in signing Cooper Kupp after he was released this offseason. While the receiver position wasn’t Dallas’s top priority, adding a former Super Bowl MVP was an opportunity they considered. Kupp’s experience and playmaking ability would have added another dynamic weapon to the Cowboys’ offense alongside Lamb and Brandin Cooks.

However, financial constraints ultimately prevented the move. Dallas was unwilling to meet the price tag that Kupp was commanding on the market. The Cowboys reportedly evaluated their options but ultimately backed out when they heard the salary expectations.

Last Thursday, the Cowboys reached out about Cooper Kupp and they were interested. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb were on the phone with Cooper Kupp talking to him about the idea of coming to Dallas.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed on his podcast

Despite their efforts, Kupp opted for a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seahawks. Seattle Seahawks outbid the Cowboys and several other teams to secure the veteran receiver. The offer was reportedly one of the most competitive on the market, making it difficult for Dallas to compete financially.

With Kupp off the table, the Cowboys will now move forward with their current roster, relying on their existing offensive weapons. The Dallas Cowboys will now knock on new doors to find solutions that can provide more support to CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Cooper Kupp is embracing a new chapter in Seattle

In one of his first in-depth interviews as a Seattle Seahawk, Cooper Kupp sat down with The Insiders’ where he discussed his experiences with both the teams with panelist Mike Garafolo. While reflecting on his decision, the former triple crown winner described the atmosphere at Lumen Field as “renowned”.

In the short segment, he admitted that there’s some hatred towards the Seattle Seahawks despite beig. He further spoke about rewiring his juices to smoothen the transition and confessed that he feels cool being part of this experience.

It’s been eight years of just hating coming up here and deal with them, so it’s just a good rewiring to have all those juices now behind you and cheering you on. Being able to be apart of that, I’m really looking forward to that. It’s going to be a cool environment to be a part’.

Cooper Kupp noted on The Insiders

Kupp has played the Seahawks twelve times in his career. In the short span, he accumulated an impressive 815 receiving yards and 70 receptions against his new team. In the past season, Kupp has seen a decline in his production and questions revolving around form regression.

After missing 19 regular-season games over the past three years, concerns arose about a potential decline in Kupp’s importance heading into 2025. With both fans and analysts questioning his role in Seattle’s revamped offense, the reliable receiver described the transition as “a work in progress” while affirming that the team is cultivating legitimate championship ambitions.
