Spire Motorsports veteran Corey LaJoie is one of the fan favorite drivers in NASCAR despite his lack of success in the top-tier. He has been a journeyman throughout his Cup career and has now found himself in another career cross roads. His team spire has announced that they would part ways with the Chevy driver at the end of the 2024 season.

Spire made the difficult decision to offload the driver, who has been the cornerstone of their success over the last few years, because of the poor form he has found himself this season. They want to give a clean slate to Rodney Childers to star from when he joins the team in 2023. Corey LaJoie discussed his exit in the latest episode of the Stacking Pennies podcast.

While talking about how his whole career has been over the years, he admitted that he never got the opportunity to make none of his plans successful. Every time his career went the way he never expected it to go, but he has been cherishing those spontaneous decision he made as it allowed him to be financially better off in the late stage of his time in NASCAR.

I am super appreciative of where I’m at in life financially with my career. It went way different than I ever expected it. Also, it’s never been easy. My entire NASCAR career has not went how I thought it was going to go. So why would I expect anything different, right? Every single plan that I thought I was going to make, it went differently.

Corey LaJoie doesn’t know what to do next

While further talking about the point, the veteran driver asserted that he has been reflecting on the bible verse “The man can plan his path, but the Lord determines his steps.” He is looking forward what the lord has planed for him next.

The thing that I’ve been kind of clinging on to the last week or so, and we can get into it, there’s just that Proverbs 16:9. It’s been pinned to my X profile for almost 10 years now. ‘The man can plan his path, but the Lord determines his steps.’ I don’t know what the next step is.

The veteran has some seats in the Cup series that is there for taking as his ability to attract sponsors is going to be a big asset. At the same time, it is going to be hard for the racer to get another opportunity to race for a top team again in his career at the Cup level.
