Cory Sandhagen wants to fight the returning T.J Dillashaw next
Cory James Sandhagen, is currently the number 2 ranked bantamweight contender. After his impressive spinning wheel kick which knocked out Marlon Moraes, he was back on track, and the win skyrocketed his rankings in the bantamweight division. Having lost to Aljamain Sterling earlier this year, Cory lost his shot at the title (against Petr Yan). But, the win against Moraes, means he is back in the hunt, although Aljamain would be the one facing Petr Yan.
“I think it’s more fair that Aljamain fights for the belt than I do right now,” a modest Cory recently said. Now that Cory will not be facing Petr Yan, he has his sights set on another big name – T.J Dillashaw.
“I’d love to fight him” – Sandhagen on facing T.J Dillashaw
Speaking of facing T.J Dillashaw, Cory Sandhagen said, “I definitely think my No. 1 contender fight should be against T.J. just because it makes the most sense. I think that I have a pretty strong case now, and when T.J. comes back, he’s going to have a pretty strong case. I’d love to fight him and then right after that when the winner of Yan and Sterling are ready to go, fight one of those guys in the spring or sometime.”
Although, T.J Dillashaw is currently serving a two-year suspension after testing positive for recombinant human erythropoietin, Cory Sandhagen doesn’t mind all that, he just wants to fight TJ. “I’m almost positive I’ve fought some guys on steroids. Doing this for like 11 years now, doing kickboxing tournaments and stuff internationally, I know for sure I’ve fought guys on steroids. But I’ve always dealt with that because I knew it was part of the sport. I didn’t let it intimidate me. I just honestly in my head, I just assumed everyone was on steroids, and if they wanted to do that, I was still going to beat them up,” Sandhagen said.
Will Cory Sandhagen have it easy against T.J who has been out of action for years?
