Jerry Jones’ first press conference from the Dallas Cowboys training camp at Oxnard generated more questions than answers. Following another disappointing playoff loss after a positive regular campaign, Jones promised to make the necessary additions to the roster in the offseason.

However, the offseason came and went, and the Cowboys remained at square zero in the incoming front while several players left due to failed contract talks. On top of that, Jones remained reluctant to pay key players like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, who will play the last year of their contracts.

Despite the tricky circumstances, Jones on Thursday reiterated about being ‘all in’, going on a rant that would make The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) blush.

I’m all in. I’m all in. Sometimes, being all in means you narrow—you remove the months out here that are in the future. And you narrow it down to where all we’re talking about is right now and the next playoff season. And that’s it for everybody. We’re all in.

Even if Jones gave assurance to being all in, the Cowboys nation should worry because there are several other players whose contracts are coming to an end.

  1. Dorance Armstrong
  2. Tyler Biadasz
  3. Ric Dowdle
  4. Dante Flower
  5. Neville Gilmore
  6. CJ Goodwin
  7. Jonathan Hankins
  8. Jayron Kearse

All of these above players will enter free agency just like Lamb and Prescott if Jones doesn’t act fast. As far as good news is concerned, they decided to wrap up Lamb’s deal soon so that he would end his holdup.

Jerry Jones claimed sports like football and the NFL are ambiguous

The 81-year-old had a field day, playing with words that hardly made any sense. After more than 25 years in charge of the Cowboys, Jones had the epiphany that football and any sport for that matter is ambiguous.

After 35 years, the one thing that’s for sure is ambiguity. Just the nature of [what] being a part of sports and part of football is. [It’s very ambiguous]. The reality of it is that you are continually dealing with much-unfinished business. There’s almost no way to segment parts of the running and the evolving of the team from one year to the next.
Jerry Jones said per the Dallas News

Philosophy aside, the Cowboys need to come back to reality. They haven’t won the Super Bowl for three decades, and with key players, including the head coach, on the verge of leaving, this could drag on far longer.
