Dallas Cowboys’ Brandon Aubrey charmed everyone at Saturday’s preseason game after making a 66-yard field goal, leading to the team’s victory by 27-12 against the Las Vegas Raiders. This remarkable feat by the kicker not only illustrated his accuracy and power but also provided a significant boost to Dallas’s roster. 

With the long-distance goal, Brandon Aubrey has embarked on the journey to become a key player for the Cowboys. If it had happened during the regular season, it would have tied with the NFL record of the longest field goal by Justin Tucker. Nonetheless, it did add to the excitement of the preseason game.

Trey Lance positioned the 66-yard field goal for Aubrey with a 20-yard run, smartly hitting the ground with a mere three seconds remaining at Las Vegas 48. With this game, head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott’s confidence in the team has increased, as the two visibly looked impressed by Aubrey’s kick.

Last week, the kicker attempted a 65-yard against the Los Angeles Rams, but he fell short of recording the feat. Later on, McCarthy was considering him a 72-yard attempt– which would have been six yards above Tucker’s historic record. But since special teams coordinator John Fassel didn’t have confidence in it, the team avoided it.

Brandon Aubrey’s hectic weekends with birth of his son

The long-distance field goal isn’t the only thing Aubrey has to celebrate this month. Returning from last week’s preseason loss against the Rams, the kicker rushed to the airport as his wife, Jenn was in labor with their son, Colton. Many even believe this Saturday’s feat was because of his new dad strength. 

After finishing the game at 4:39 pm Aubrey reached the International Airport within an hour and arrived home at midnight. He and his wife finally left for the hospital at dawn around 4:30 when she went into labor and gave birth to an adorable baby boy. 

It's been hectic. It's been tiring. But, you know, it's been life-changing and exciting. Probably, I would say, the best week of my life.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t spend much time with his baby boy as he had to return to Oxnard, California to join his team in the training camp, on Thursday. It surely had been a hectic week for Aubrey as he shared still catching up with everything that happened in such a short span.
