Dak Prescott’s contract has been one of the biggest topics of discussion this offseason, yet there hasn’t been any deal signed. While the negotiation discussion is still going on, many believe it would be the next big contract in the quarterback market, potentially surprising the highest-paid deals.
One of those is the former NFL player and now NFL scout Louis Reddick, who predicted a record-breaking contract for the Cowboys star quarterback. Although the Cowboys have been quite hesitant in offering Prescott a lucrative contract, Reddick claimed they have no other option than that, in order to, retain him after the 2024 season.
It's a never-ending argument when you're talking about trying to ascertain– what is a player, what's his worth. And I know fans will get all up in arms about, 'He's not worth $60 million plus. He's not worth more than Patrick Mahomes.' ... But look, this is the market right now.Louis Reddick said on Wednesday’s episode of Get Up
Reddick further emphasized that the three-time Pro Bowler has the leverage in the contract negotiation, especially since there’s a quarterback “scarcity issue” in the league and the Cowboys do not have the next best alternative.
Look, Dak is gonna get his. He's gonna get his. It'll be north of 60 [million]; I won't bat an eye at it. Because that's the market. That's the price of doing business.Louis Reddick added
Cowboys are prioritizing CeeDee Lamb’s contract negotiations over Dak Prescott
In addition to Prescott, the Cowboys also have to offer an extension to star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. And with the latter holding out from the offseason program and possibly the training camp, the franchise reportedly prioritized him over the former for contract negotiation.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed that the star quarterback has been assured that he will get an extension privately, even though there hasn’t been much progress in the negotiation which has been going on for over a month.
Interestingly, Prescott is waiting for Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love’s contract situation to be handled before his. So that he can seek a record-breaking deal, potentially the highest in the quarterback market.
