Regardless of how the season ended for the Dallas Cowboys, the fact that they had a successful run till the playoffs as the second-seeded in the NFC is undeniable. One of the major contributors in the winning season was star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb – who has been seeking a deserving extension from the Cowboys for months now. 

With the 2024 season hardly two weeks away, the urgency to sort out Lamb’s extension to get him back with the team has become desperate more than ever. So believes head coach Mike McCarthy, when asked about the concerns about the team because of the absence of the three-time Pro Bowl receiver.

Mike McCarthy told the reporters via Jon Machota of The Athletic

The Cowboys’ head coach highlighted the $33 million deal offered to Lamb previously, which he apparently rejected, and argued that the team hadn’t offered the deal if they didn’t want Lamb back. He firmly believes that a deal will be placed very soon, until then, the Cowboys are taking “one step at a time” to prepare for the coming 2024 season.

CeeDee Lamb remains unsigned as Cowboys’ preseason ends

Unfortunately, the receiver coming off a Pro Bowler season doesn’t seem to share the same level of faith and optimism for an extension as his head coach. He rejected the previous $33 million per year because of the low valuation and the contract structure. Since then, he has been waiting for the Cowboys’ front office to offer him another deal that he deserves. 

Still waiting on that phone call, but, until then, we grind.

Lamb has been holding out from all practice drills, offseason program, and preseason for the past several months, yet owner Jerry Jones doesn’t consider the matter an urgency as much as his team does. The star wideout has diverted all his focus to improving his game and being the best version of himself. He and the Cowboys are reportedly said to continue the negotiations this weekend, now that the preseason is over.
