Dallas Cowboys star Brandon Aubrey is set to overtake Harrison Butker to become the highest-paid placekicker in the NFL.

Back in 2017, Brandon Aubrey was getting ready to start his career with Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC. Little did he know that in eight years, he would be out of the sport and staring at what could be his biggest life-altering moment.
He and his wife, Jenn, have been together in this journey since their high school days, and may not have even dreamt that there would be a time when the 6’3″ Notre Dame alum would be rumored to be in the running to earn $10 million a year.
As per Spotrac’s MLS player salary rankings, that would have placed the 30-year-old behind the great Lionel Messi and South Korean star Son Heung-Min.
But Brandon Aubrey is not negotiating with any MLS team. Rather, it is with Jerry Jones and his Dallas Cowboys. As a restricted free agent, the Texas native is in line to get what possibly could be the richest contract for the position in NFL history.
Fake.
Brandon Aubrey wrote on IG
The kicker wrote this in response to a discussion on Dallas radio station 105.3 The FAN, where they were running with the $10 million-a-year rumor, and suggested that if Aubrey and his representatives continue with such demands, the Cowboys might as well sign someone else.

It seems he is making it clear that he has not made such demands, and that the radio station, which once had a public tussle with Jerry Jones, might have got their facts wrong.
Brandon Aubrey’s wife debunks Cowboys contract offer rumors
The folks at 105.3 The Fan were talking about how the Dallas Cowboys apparently offered Brandon Aubrey a contract that would see him earn $7.5 million a season.

That alone would make his annual salary $1.1 million more than what the current highest-earning placekicker, Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs, earns. They continued to claim that the Cowboys’ kicker apparently rejected that offer.
False.
Jenn Aubrey wrote on IG
Again, this was Jenn Aubrey, wife and mother of Brandon Aubrey’s son, who made it clear that the rumors were false. It seems she and her husband caught wind that certain Dallas media houses were running with this rumor.

Whether there is any truth to it or not, such rumors were naturally affecting the current 60+ yards field goal record holder‘s image in front of the Cowboys and football fans.
After all, they grew up in that state, and had the husband and wife duo not pointed out the false rumors, it could have affected their lives and those of their relatives and friends.
Brandon Aubrey’s agent fires shots at the media
When Brandon Aubrey and his wife were trying to fight off rumors of the placekicker reportedly rejecting a monster offer and being greedy enough to hold out for a bigger salary, their agent probably had the best response on his Instagram.
The NFL combine…where misinformation spreads like wildfire. Looking forward to my meeting with the Cowboys on the bus.
Todd France wrote on IG
This was Todd France, who captured the video while walking around the famous Jerry Jones bus, clad in Dallas Cowboys livery, outside Lucas Oil Stadium, in Indianapolis.
France also used Drake‘s song, ‘Started From the Bottom,’ as background music, making it clear that his client, the placekicker who once became an afterthought in the MLS, was not the one making such outrageous demands.
On top of that, the agent also fired shots at the media present at the NFL Combine, who he believes will do anything to get clicks and views, as there is not much to talk about despite their investment and presence.
