The Dallas Cowboys is a hotbed ready to implode, with new controversies spewing up almost every week. On Friday, star safety Malik Hooker criticized pass rusher Micah Parsons for focusing too much on off-field activities.

Although Parsons is one of the best linebackers in the NFL, bagging two All-Pro titles and three Pro Bowls, Hooker believes that if the Penn State graduate becomes more serious about his game, then he can contribute more to the Cowboys. Keyshawn Johnson listened in silence as the 28-year-old spoke on his All Facts and No Brakes podcast.

My advice for Micah would be: just know we’re all right and [being] where your feet are. Because if [we’re at work, and] the run game’s terrible, but you’re doing a podcast every week and you know the run game is terrible, then what are you really caring about? [Are] you caring about the crowd that’s watching your podcast? Or caring about the success of our team and the Super Bowl that we’re trying to reach?

After Hooker finished his ranting, Johnson interjected that he had no intentions of baiting him to speak ill of Micah Parsons.

Malik Hooker gave grace to Micah Parsons because he is young

A lot of players spend a considerable amount of time outside of football building their brand. Parsons has been busy creating an identity outside of a Cowboy. He hosts a podcast on Bleacher Report, organizes youth training camps during the offseason, and even signed a high-value deal with Adidas.

It’s great that Parsons has the mind of a businessman at the age of just 25. However, not everyone is bound to be appreciative of his achievements. Even though Hooker took a jab at him, the former Colt knows that Parsons is still young and has ample time to mature.

People got to remember Micah’s young. He’s still trying to find his way, he’s still trying to grow into who he’s trying to be. So I give him grace.

Parsons was a no-show during the Cowboys’ offseason OTAs. He spent time with Texans quarterback CJ Stroud, traveling around Asia. They went to China, teaching children about football, and stopped in Japan to wrestle with Sumo.

The pair even appeared on various podcasts during the NFL Draft, as guest analysts and reaction specialists. However, Parsons re-joined with the Cowboys team when the mini camp began earlier in June. Next, they will fly off to Oxnard in the middle of July to prepare for the pre-season games.
