Sean McVay has built an exceptional resume as an NFL head coach, achieving more in his first eight seasons than many coaches do in a lifetime. Before even turning 40, he had already been named Coach of the Year, led the Los Angeles Rams to a league-best scoring offense in his first season, won a Super Bowl, and made six playoff appearances with four division titles.
While names like Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, and Kyle Shanahan dominate discussions about the league’s top coaches, Sean McVay’s success is sometimes overlooked. Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons recently shared his belief that McVay isn’t given enough credit for what he’s accomplished, particularly in the way he kept the Rams competitive despite major roster changes.
Speaking on his podcast, Parsons pointed out how McVay helped the Rams navigate a dramatic shift after their Super Bowl win. Los Angeles had a stacked team that included Odell Beckham Jr., Von Miller, Leonard Floyd, and Jalen Ramsey.
Once that window closed, the team appeared headed for a rebuild. But McVay didn’t take that approach. Instead, he adapted, developing younger talent and keeping the Rams competitive.
I don’t think Sean McVay gets the credit he deserves… You look at that Super Bowl team, they were pretty much stacked. They went all-in, they traded everything away. After that year, they kind of said, ‘We’re in rebuild mode’ but he was like, ‘No, I’m not in rebuild.’ And you look at that defense, bro, besides their Defensive Rookie of the Year that they just drafted this year, you can name too many superstar talents.

Jordan Love doesn’t share the same perspective on Sean McVay
Micah Parsons was joined by Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. The 26-year-old had a different perspective on the matter.

He disagreed with the notion that McVay is underrated, believing that the Rams coach does receive the recognition he deserves. Nevertheless, Love also maintained that McVay deserves the credit. “I wouldn’t say he’s an underrated coach, though. I think everybody gives him his flowers, as he deserves,” Love responded.
Regardless of whether McVay is universally acknowledged as one of the NFL’s best, the Rams are undoubtedly grateful to have him leading their franchise. Before he arrived in 2017, the team had endured a decade of mediocrity. Under his leadership, they quickly became a powerhouse, reaching two Super Bowls and consistently contending in a highly competitive NFC.
Whether or not he’s widely regarded as a top-tier coach, McVay’s impact on the Rams is undeniable. He has transformed the organization, bringing stability, innovation, and sustained success. As long as he’s on the sidelines, Los Angeles will remain a threat in the NFL.
The Los Angeles Rams managed to defeat the Minnesota Vikings twice in the past season including a playoff upset. Dan Orlovsky maintained that they are an offense to fear in the postseason throughout, more so after the scintillating win over the Buffalo Bills. The Rams, despite Cooper Kupp’s departure, remain a stacked team with rising talents in Puka Nacua and Jared Verse.
