Every athlete has one such game that they never want a reminder of and it appears the Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons has that feeling for the first playoff game last season, which got his team eliminated despite having a home game against and against a seventh-seeded team.

As Parsons awaits the 2024 regular season to begin, he organized a football youth camp in El Paso, Texas with a count of 600 children in attendees in Wednesday’s windy weather. The star linebacker claimed he was “giving back to the community,” which has been his mission since he started living in Texas.

Though the whole event was a success, one specific instant was caught on camera when Parsons was clicking pictures with the participants of his youth camp. As one kid excitingly told him that he went to one of the Cowboys’ games.

Which one?” asked Parsons without missing a beat, to which the kid replied, “Umm. The Green Bay Packers.”

His response took back the linebacker to the heartbreaking memory of the Cowboys’ loss to the Green Bay Packers after an incredible season, in the wild-card round of the playoffs. The Cowboys had stepped on the field with high expectations since they were at home, where they had the record of zero defeats but ended up being outperformed by Packers at 32-48.

And Parsons delivered the perfect zinger by telling the camper, “Delete that from your memory.”

Following the playoff loss, Parsons was so embarrassed that he skipped the post-game press conference as well as the team’s locker room cleanout media availability. He claimed it took him a while to show his face in public.

Micah Parsons eyeing a record-breaking contract extension

Apart from his offseason endeavors, Parsons is also lined up to receive a huge contract extension from the Cowboys. Given that he still has two years remaining in his contract, the Cowboys are likely to sign him in a record-breaking deal.

As per the rumors, Parsons is seeking a deal beyond the highest-paid DL Nick Bosa’s contract of $34 million per year. However, the chances of him receiving the extension now seem rather superficial since the franchise also has to sign star quarterback Dak Prescott and star wideout CeeDee Lamb in an extension.

If Parsons waits and records his career-best season in 2024, then he could demand a number even exceeding $35 million.
