Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons couldn’t resist taking a playful shot at the Philadelphia Eagles after their former cornerback Darius Slay left Jalen Hurts off his list of elite NFL quarterbacks. The Eagles are one of the most dangerous and hated teams in the National Football League, thanks to their Super Bowl wins and certain fan actions.
Slay, a six-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2017, recently shared his ranking of the league’s top quarterbacks. His elite four consisted of Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen. Notably absent from the list was Jalen Hurts, who led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory this past season and was named Super Bowl MVP.
Slay’s omission of Hurts raised eyebrows, especially among Philadelphia fans, given his significant contributions to the team’s success. One person who quickly noticed the potential stir was Parsons, the Cowboys’ defensive standout.
Omg don’t let Eagles fans see this.

Parsons’ comment added fuel to the fire, as Eagles’ fans are known for their passionate support and unwavering (post Super Bowl) belief in Hurts’ talent. Given the fierce rivalry between the Cowboys and Eagles, his remark carried an extra edge, seemingly delighting in any potential controversy Slay’s rankings might cause within the Philadelphia fanbase.
Slay, who the Eagles released on Monday after five seasons, played a crucial role in the team’s defensive success, helping them reach two Super Bowls during his tenure. Before his time in Philadelphia, he spent seven seasons with the Detroit Lions, who drafted him 36th overall in 2013. His decorated career, which includes leading the league in interceptions in 2017, has solidified his reputation as one of the top cornerbacks in the game.
Darius Slay might stick with the NFC East, creating havoc for the Cowboys
The veteran cornerback, who’s playing his last seasons, boasted the third-best pass defense last season—a remarkable turnaround from finishing last in 2023. The Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles had very spectacular seasons and pushed the previous division champions last year.

During a Grand Theft Auto online session, YouTube streamer and Commanders fan Janky Rondo unexpectedly crossed paths with Darius Slay. Seizing the moment, Rondo pitched the idea of Slay joining Washington: “You can come in with the Commanders, I’m just saying.”
Ay, ay, now you know if the price is right, I don’t mind. If the price is right.
Darius Slay said with a laugh
Washington’s five starting defensive backs are all 28 or younger—at least six years junior to Darius Slay. Amid retirement, Slay could seamlessly step into a starting or supporting role alongside Benjamin St-Juste while also providing valuable leadership to the unit. He might even find himself competing with fellow veteran Marshon Lattimore for snaps on the outside, while young standout Mike Sainristil locks down the slot.
