After concluding the season at 7-10, owner Jerry Jones is moving fast to revamp the team ahead of the 2025 Draft pick. After his decision not to extend McCarthy for his sixth season in Dallas, he approached Deion Sanders, whose name was being associated with the team when the 82-year-old had no plans to change the head coach position.

However, since Sanders has been firm with his desire to stay with the Colorado Buffaloes, the Cowboys shifted their focus to individuals who are interested in the team. Saleh’s interview marks a significant step in what promises to be an intriguing coaching search for Dallas.

As for now, the date of the interview hasn’t been scheduled yet. The Cowboys may face competition against the Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars, both of whom are also interested in Saleh. All eyes are on General Manager Jones and his decision-making process as they seek to chart a new course for the team.

Saleh, who was let go by the Jets after a disappointing 2-3 start, is reportedly the first known candidate for the Cowboys head coach position. His tenure in New York saw him compile a 20-36 over three-plus seasons, leading many to question whether he is the right fit for the America’s team.

One fan wrote, “Yeah… that franchise is cooked beyond belief,” while another joined in, exclaiming, “Do they purposely just wanna get worse?” Here are some of the fan reactions:

During his time with the Jets, Saleh was praised for his defensive acumen, having previously served as a successful defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. However, his firing raised eyebrows from all across the league, as many believed he deserved more time to develop the team. Perhaps, he could be precisely the person the Cowboys need, as they already have a solid team and Saleh’s leadership could thrive remarkably.
