What’s worse than a 3-5 record in the season? Losing your starting quarterback for an extended period at the most critical juncture of the season. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a hamstring injury in the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
The magnitude of the injury is more severe than the Cowboys had anticipated. As per Ian Rapoport, the $60 million man will be sidelined for multiple weeks. The Dallas Cowboys have not placed Dak Prescott on the injured reserve list just yet but he will not be taking the field for the team for a minimum of two to three weeks.
Dallas Cowboys executive Stephen Jones clarified the situation surrounding their star quarterback. The team will not risk sending their franchise quarterback out there unless they are certain he is healthy.
Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys have struggled to win games this season
Dak Prescott’s injury came early in the fourth quarter of the team’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. This setback could not have come at a worse time for America’s team as they hoped to salvage what was left of their season by making a strong push in the second half of their calendar.
To make things worse, the Dallas Cowboys are likely to be without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb too as they head forward. He struggled through an AC joint injury while playing against the Falcons. The team has dubbed his injury to be a minor one but his status at this point is ‘week-to-week.’ As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to face their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, these two injuries put them at a relative disadvantage.
With Dak Prescott out for the game against the Eagles, backup QB Cooper Rush is expected to take the field for the team. The team has Trey Lance on the roster too but considering the fact that Rush filled in well for Prescott the last time he was out, Mike McCarthy is likely to stick with him. Hopefully, Dak Prescott can make a speedy recovery.
