The Dallas Cowboys have not been great this season. The team’s dismal 3-4 record stems from the offense and defense struggles. While a majority of the Cowboys’ starters on defense have been kept out owing to injuries, the offense, on the other hand, has underperformed. Dak Prescott‘s performances this season appear to negatively impact the team’s chemistry.

Trevon Diggs, the cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys named his list of top quarterbacks in the NFL this season. Surprisingly, Dak Prescott did not make the cut. While speaking about Jayden Daniels’ placing amongst the starting QBs in the NFL, Diggs spoke highly of the rookie and ranked him amongst the top 5.

He then proceeded to rank the other elite quarterbacks in the league so far this season. Interestingly, both being Cowboys themselves, they did not mention Dak Prescott.

I’m gonna go with (Jayden Daniels), I’m gonna go Mahomes, Lamar (Jackson), Josh Allen, Jalen (Hurts) playing pretty good right now too…and Matthew Stafford. Bro, I love how Matthew Stafford played the quarterback position…Sam Darnold looking crazy too so it’s hard…

Dak Prescott ranks 4th in the NFL in terms of interceptions thrown this season

Both of them deserve credit for putting up a rational list. The names they ranked are well-deserving of being top quarterbacks in the NFL. However, to not bring up Dak Prescott in this conversation is a bit strange. The Cowboys’ defense cannot be blamed if they are frustrated with their quarterback.

After all, he has yet to show that he is worth being paid $60 million a year. Dak Prescott ranks 9th in terms of passing yards this season but he also has 8 interceptions ranking him 4th in the league. The quarterback has had to bear the brunt of the offense as the team remains without a solid rushing attack. Jerry Jones made a decision that would have sent shivers down the spines of their opponents in 2016 by hoping Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott could spearhead Dallas’ run attack.

This leads Dak Prescott to rely more so on CeeDee Lamb who is facing double teams from DBs because he is the obvious target on most plays. Mike McCarthy is putting his wide receiver in the line of fire and hoping that he can outperform the DBs every time. There is no creativity going on within the system and the playbook has become predictable. For Dallas, struggles exist on both sides of the ball, and as the team hopes to make a strong push to make the playoffs in the second half of the season, things appear grim at the moment.
