Brock Purdy is coming off a remarkable season for a second-year quarterback as he led the league in passer rating, yards per completion, touchdown percentage, yards per attempt, and QBR. Yet, he had to endure intense scrutiny over his performance as many believe the only reason the 2022’s last-draft pick became successful is because of the star-studded offense.
In the recent episode of FS1’s “The Carton Show,” Craig Carton came to the San Francisco 49ers star’s defense by bashing his critics and fans for criticizing him unnecessarily and not giving the young quarterback the respect he deserves.
If you are putting together a list of the 10 best quarterbacks in football today, and Brock Purdy is not on that list, you’ve exposed yourself as knowing nothing about football.Craig Carton said
Although Purdy couldn’t earn a place among the top 10 quarterbacks on ESPN’s list, he did receive an honorable mention.
It’s hard to call him top 10 based on the guys ahead of him, but it’s hard to keep him out of the top 10, too.an NFL executive told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN
With Purdy as the starting QB, the 49ers are the favorite for the Super Bowl next season. Many believe the 49ers have a shot at the Super Bowl only with Purdy as the starting quarterback, but at the same time some claim he would need the whole star-studded offense just like last season for that.
49ers’ Super Bowl hopes hinge on resolving Brandon Aiyuk’s contract dispute
Speaking of the star-studded offense accumulated by head coach Kyle Shanahan, there has been a lot of talk about the 49ers’ Super Bowl odds with Brandon Aiyuk’s contract on hold. The star receiver has recently requested a trade after being fed up by not receiving any deserving offers from the franchise.
Considering that many analysts have been claiming that if Aiyuk did leave the Niners via trade, their Super Bowl window will most likely close down. They believe in order for Purdy to be successful and win the Super Bowl, he would need the entire offense as last season.
However, there’s a very slim chance that the 49ers will actually entertain trade offers regarding Aiyuk, as they have been quite reluctant to trade the receiver and repeatedly assured that they want to keep him.
