Novak Djokovic tore the medial meniscus in his right knee after slipping several times during his fourth-round match against Francisco Cerundolo. Despite having undergone surgery in Paris, his recovery process has been slated for up to three weeks. Nevertheless, a renowned journalist reveals he is doing everything to play at Wimbledon.

Wimbledon which gets underway on July 1 looks unrealistic for Djokovic to participate in. The 37-year-old has won the tournament seven times in his career but finished as runner-up last year. However, this season has not gone as expected for Djokovic, as he is still chasing his first title of the year.

He was aiming for the French Open title despite having a right knee problem before the tournament began. But, poor scheduling from the Roland Garros organizers shut down his hopes when he played an over four-hour late-night match. He then played against Francisco Cerundolo and slipped several times exacerbating the right knee problem.

His inclusion in the Paris Olympics, suggests he is closer to full recovery. The Serbian would be competing at his fifth Olympics, having participated in the tournament since 2008. But, he has only one bronze to boast of at the event. He has lost the third-place match twice in three appearances.

The only piece of silverware eluding his elite cabinet is the Olympic gold and he would give his 100% to win that in Paris. The tennis event at the Paris Olympics will be played on the courts of Roland Garros, the home of the French Open.
