David Warner shushed all his critics when he slammed a century in his farewell Test series against Pakistan in Perth on Thursday (December 14). Following his explosive hundred, Warner did what he always does- leaping up in the air to celebrate, and moments after, he simply put his finger on his lips, an answer to those who criticized him for his form.
But for those watching the match, they believed Warner shushed his former teammate Mitchell Johnson, who had sparked controversy when he wrote in this column for The West Australian that Warner didn’t deserve to decide the date for his farewell Test, given that he was involved in the sandpaper gate scandal. Johnson also criticized the opener for his form in red-ball cricket.

Warner, when asked about Johnson’s remarks, simply said everyone is entitled to their own opinion. After his 211-ball 164 runs, Warner explained his action while celebrating his century.
You saw what it was. It was a nice little quiet shush. It's just anyone who wants to write stories about me and trying to use headlines, get headlines, that stuff doesn't bother me. It's just the fact that I have to go out there and do what I have to do. And I'm allowed to celebrate what I want.Warner said after the day’s play
David Warner’s wife Candice Warner also took an indirect dig at Mitchell Johnson
It seems not just David Warner but his wife Candice Warner also seized the chance to take a dig at Mitchell Johnson. On X (formerly Twitter), Candice simply uploaded a post with a ‘shush’ emoticon.
