‘Now you can s**k it’ – AB de Villiers lashes out at Dale Steyn over tweet on batsmen
AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn
South African legend Dale Steyn has decided to put four Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on sale commemorating memorable milestones in his career. The Protea legend hung his boots earlier this month and decided to put out the NFTs for his fans.
The artworks will be depicting his maiden Test wicket, hundredth Test wicket and the wicket which took him past the great Shaun Pollock as South Africa’s all-time highest wicket-taker in the purest format of the game. While the fans are eager to get their hands on the commemorative artwork, Steyn’s dear friend AB de Villiers has changed his mind about buying one of the NFTs.
De Villiers took a U-turn after he and Steyn were involved in a funny banter on Twitter. Following India’s historic win at the Oval in the fourth Test of the series against England, the pace legend tweeted, “Batters wow the crowd, Bowlers win you games.” The Tweet didn’t sit well with his friend De Villiers.
Dale Steyn heaps praise on Jasprit Bumrah during banter with AB de Villiers
An inspired performance from the Indian bowlers on a flat track saw India reign supreme over the hosts to take the lead in the series. While Steyn’s tweet aimed to laud the Indian bowlers for their effort, AB de Villiers took it as a dig at the batsmen. The legendary quick tried to make amends as he clarified further.
Steyn shared he was mighty impressed by Jasprit Bumrah’s spell post-lunch as he returned with figures of 6-3-6-2. Bumrah got the old ball to reverse a bit as he castled two key English batters, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow. The Indian pacer produced a spell for the ages, which turned the game completely. His spell triggered a collapse as England were bowled out for 210 from being at 141 for 2 at one point.
Despite Steyn’s clarification, de Villiers seemed to cross with his old-time friend. The banter that ensued was hilarious giving the fans a glimpse of the friendship they share. De Villiers will be in action later this month in the Indian Premier League when its 14th season resumes from September 19.
