Afghanistan were absolutely clinical in their approach during their first game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The team showed signs of brilliance throughout the match as they outclassed Scotland by 130 runs. It was an all-round performance by Mohammad Nabi and Men as they dominated the game throughout.

Hazratullah Zazai (8/10): The opening batter Hazratullah Zazai gave Afghanistan a dream start by slamming 44 runs off 30 balls. The batter hit three boundaries and two maximums before losing his wicket to Mark Watt. 

Mohammad Shahzad(w) (5/10): The other opening batsman Mohammad Shahzad failed to perform well as he perished after a good start. The wicketkeeper lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs off 15 balls. 

Rashid Khan (9/10): Rashid Khan was as usual brilliant with the ball. The spin mainstay picked up a whopping four wickets while conceding just nine runs in his 2.2 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (8/10): Rahmanullah Gurbaz flaunted his class with the willow. The top-order batter hit 46 runs off 37 deliveries.

Najibullah Zadran (9/10): The middle-order ended up as the highest run-getter for Afghanistan. Zadran hammered 59 runs while facing 34 deliveries. His knock came to an end with a catch to Bradley Wheal off Safyaan Sharif.

Mohammad Nabi(c) (6/10): The skipper Mohammad Nabi hit 11 runs off the four balls he faced during the game. Nabi was quite expensive with the ball as he leaked 11 overs in his one over.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman (9.5/10): Mujeeb Ur Rahman caused carnage on the field. The spinner picked up a five-wicket haul to break the backbone of Scotland’s batting line-up. 

Naveen-ul-Haq (7/10): Naveen-ul-Haq was decent with the ball. The pacer gave away 12 runs in his two overs while picking up a lone wicket of Matthew Cross.

Kyle Coetzer(c) (3/10): The skipper Kyle Coetzer failed to impress in the game against Afghanistan. Kyle’s innings came to an end as Mujeeb ur Rahman sent him back to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs off 7 balls.

Matthew Cross(w) (/10): The wicketkeeper-batsman succumbed to a torrid outing as he ended up with a golden duck. 

Richie Berrington (0.5/10): Richie Berrington could play as per his reputation as the middle-order batter marched back to the pavilion after scoring a five-ball duck. 

Calum MacLeod (0.5/10): Calum MacLeod was the other batter to score a duck. Calum lost his wicket to Mujeen ur Rahman on a golden duck. 

Michael Leask (1/10): Michael Leask had a forgettable run both with the bat and the ball. Leask got out on a duck while he leaked 18 runs in the only over he bowled in the match. 

Chris Greaves (2/10): Chris Greaves had a torrid run as he ended up giving 30 runs in his three overs. Greaves made efforts with the willow as he hit 12 runs off 12 balls.

Mark Watt (6/10): Mark Watt can be the pick of the bowler for Scotland. Watt had the best economy rate of 5.8 while he also picked Hazratullah Zazai. 

Josh Davey (2/10): Just like all the other bowlers, Josh Davey failed to impress. The spinner ended up giving 41 runs in his four overs. 

Safyaan Sharif (5/10): Safyaan Sharif was the only Scotland bowler to pick more than one wicket. Sharif finished the game with the figures, 4-0-33-2.

Bradley Wheal (3/10): Bradley Wheal was another player to have a below-average day. Wheal went wicketless while he conceded 42 runs in his four overs.
