Lucknow and Ahmedabad are likely to host the IPL playoffs according to reports

According to recent reports, Indian Premier League’s playoffs and final are to be conducted in Lucknow and Ahmedabad, the home venues of the new teams.

Playoffs and finals are to be played in Ahmedabad and Lucknow, the home cities of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. If everything goes according to plan, Lucknow will host the first qualifier and Ahmedabad will host the second qualifier and the final.

In Ahmedabad, the venue will be the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, the world’s largest cricket stadium with a capacity of 1.32 lakhs. While Lucknow’s venue is the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee stadium with a capacity of 50,000. But so far, the confirmation on the report is awaiting.

“It would be great if playoff matches can he held in Lucknow and Ahmedabad”- Sources

Some sources have confirmed that, due to the two new teams that have joined this year, it would be great idea to hand the responsibilities to their home venues.

“Since Lucknow and Ahmedabad have joined this year, it would be great if playoff matches can be held in Lucknow and Ahmedabad respectively,” a sport report by Sports Tak says.

“This is what we discussed a few days back. Some of the officials are on the same page of thought and soon we will have our meeting and if everything goes as discussed then you might see Lucknow and Ahmedabad host the playoff matches.”

At present, the 70 league matches are played across four venues in two cities of Maharashtra, Mumbai and Pune. These four venues are- Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, MCA Stadium in Pune that are hosting the 10 participating teams. For the first time, since the inaugural edition, 10 teams have participated in the IPL. These 10 teams have been divided into two groups.
