“He’s an amazing leader and the perfect man for the job” – AB de Villiers on newly appointed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis
Proteas Faf du Plessis is appointed the new captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming 15th edition of IPL 2022. While talking about du Plessis on the live screen of the RCB UNBOX, the legendary batsman AB de Villiers praised his compatriot and called him the perfect man for the job.
De Villiers said that he had expected that the captaincy responsibilities will be given to du Plessis after the latter was bought by the franchise in the last month’s mega auction.
“A new season brings new challenges and also new opportunities with this season there are few exciting changes. Changes we can all look forward to. The biggest change of them all our new captain, and who better than my good friend, Faf du Plessis.” Said de Villiers.
“This announcement comes as no surprise to me after RCB picked up Faf at the auction. He’s an amazing leader and the perfect man for the job. He has a fantastic tactical mind and Faf will have great support around him. No doubt that he will do a wonderful job for the RCB family. RCB eye for maide title under Faf du Plessis’ captaincy
Virat Kohli, who led the side for nine years, announced he’s stepping down from captaincy last year. RCB were in search of a new skipper. The franchise bought du Plessis for Rs. 7 crores in the last month’s mega auction. The 37-year-old du Plessis has represented the South African team in 69 Tests, 143 ODIs, and 50 T20Is.
IPL 2022’s first match will see former champion Chennai Super Kings with captain MS Dhoni against Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26. RCB, with their new captain du Plessis, will lock-horns with Punjab Kings. The franchise have not won the cash league yet but have entered the finals three times in the year 2009, 2011 and 2016. They will be eyeing their maiden cup now under the captaincy of the veteran Faf du Plessis.
