CPL 2021: Andre Russell smashes fattest ever fifty in CPL history

Andre Russell
West Indies explosive power-hitter Andre Russell scripted history as Jamaica Tallawahs secured a 120-run win over Saint Lucia Kings in the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The third match of CPL 2021 was filled with drama, action, and thrill as Russell smashed the fastest-ever fifty in the history of the T20 league.
Coming to bat at number five for Tallawahs in the first innings, Russell caused carnage on the match field. The batsman looked in a different mood as he hammered the Lucia Kingsโ bowlers all over the park. Russell started his innings by taking a single. What followed after that was the power-hitter smashing a half-century in just 14 balls with the help of 14 boundaries and three maximums.
The score in the 14 balls played by the 33-year-old read, 1, 6, 0, 1, 6, 6, 4, 6, 6, 6, 0, 0, 4 and 4.

On the back of the damage by Russell, Tallawahs posted a mammoth score of 255 runs in their 20 overs. While the all-rounder was the highest run-getter, Chadwick Walton, Kennar Lewis, and Haider Ali were also decent with the willow as they added 47, 48, and 45 runs respectively to the scoreboard.
In reply, Saint Lucia Kings collapsed at a score of 135. Migael Pretorious led the attack for his team as he picked a four-wicket haul. Apart from Migael, Imrah Khan returned with three wickets while Chris Green and Andre Russell had one each under their belt.
Tim David emerged as the lone warrior for Kings as he was the only batsman who showed some responsibility by scoring 56 runs. However, the lack of support from other players resulted in Lucia Kings losing by 120 runs.
