IPL 2022: Surprise! Anrich Nortje reaches Mumbai to join Delhi Capitals
Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje, who was out of action for South Africa for close to five months after suffering a hip injury, has joined Delhi Capitals ahead of the 15th edition of the IPL. Anrich Nortje has surprised everyone by joining Delhi Capitals. However, he is still uncertain about his participation in the IPL 2022. This is after Cricket South Africa declared, “He is far from fit.”. The medical team of the Delhi Capitals will evaluate his condition and make a decision on whether he will be eligible for the IPL, according to information obtained by InsideSport.
CSA medical team had not cleared Nortje to participate in IPL, so DC were unsure if they could use their star pacer. Nortje has not bowled since November, so DC were anxiously awaiting the availability of their star pacer. The South African medical team has given Nortje a conditional all-clear and he will be in action only if the DC medical staff cleared him. Nortje last played in the T20 World Cup and hasn’t played since then. DC retained Nortje for Rs 6.5 Cr. He is still inactive and he is not expected to return to bowling during the opening half of IPL 2022.

Anrich Nortje is Not Ready For Cricketing Action: Cricket South Africa (CSA) Medical Officer Dr. Shuaib Manjra
While Anrich Nortje is still recovering from his injury, he has missed a lot of international cricket for the South African team, including the home Test series against India and the ongoing ODI and Test series against Bangladesh. In a local newspaper, Cricket South Africa (CSA)’s medical officer said that he wasn’t ready for action yet.
Dr. Shuaib Manjra had said: “He has been seen by three different orthopedic surgeons. He is struggling with loading and doing most of the other rehab work. He is not ready for action. I guess it’s frustrating. He keeps fit, he works extremely hard. All goes fine, except for when he picks up his bowling loads. He has got discomfort. We have identified three different problems between back and hip and we don’t know which is primary.”
Anrich Nortje’s arrival in India is a sign that Cricket South Africa (CSA) has cleared him to compete in the upcoming IPL 2022. But now it’s up to the medical team of Delhi Capitals to determine whether it’s safe for him to continue bowling in IPL 2022.
