Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh players brought their best games by beating the Proteas by 9 nine wickets in the 3rd and decider match at SuperSports Park on Wednesday.
The players and the coaching staff then expressed their immense delight by singing the song “Hum Honge Kamyab” in their dressing room after registering their first-ever bilateral series win over South Africa by 2-1, on African soil. In the Bengali language, the song translates to “Amra Korbo Joy” which is sung by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. With this win, Bangladesh now remains at the top of the leaderboard in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League table.

“The biggest achievements in my career,” Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal
South Africa had won the toss and decided to bat first. They looked off-coloured with the bat as well with the ball. Janneman Malan scored the highest among them with 39 runs off 56 balls. With the help of pacer Taskin Ahmed who had clinched five wickets, Bangladesh were able to hammer the Proteas. They were bundled out easily in 37 overs with a paltry 154 runs.
In response, it was skipper Iqbal’s fast unbeaten 87 off 82 balls that ensured their team through to the win. He was supported by Liton Das who scored 48 off 57 balls. Together, they knocked off 127 runs. Shakib Al Hasan, who joined Iqbal later then contributed 18 runs to reach the target.
In the post-match presentation, Taskin was awarded the Player of the Match and Series. On Taskin, their skipper said: “I’m a very proud man, especially with a Bangladeshi pacer getting a five-for, winning the series for us and winning the Player of the Series award as well.”
He termed this victory as: “This is probably one of the biggest achievements in my career.”
He then hailed all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan because he had participated in the match when his family members are in the hospital.
“His two daughters along with his mother and mother-in-law, are all in hospitals. Still playing for his country shows the character of the man. He wanted to win this series, so I thank him, he has been brilliant for us.
