Watch: DJ Bravo unveils new wicket celebration in IPL 2022 season opener

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had some standout performances in their first-ever encounter of IPL 2022. Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni performed the heroic act for CSK when they were reduced to 61/5, but a key player made his presence felt with the ball. That player is DJ Bravo. DJ Bravo did not get a chance to add finishing touches to Chennai’s innings with the bat in the death overs but, he did chip in with the ball in hand and got rid of the dangerous Venkatesh Iyer.

After getting rid of the batter, the Caribbean megastar celebrated in a unique way. It should be noted that this is a one-of-a-kind yet distinct celebration from the rest. Dwayne Bravo is overjoyed after dismissing Venkatesh Iyer. This incident occurred immediately following the Powerplay. The former Windies all-rounder entered the fray to bowl the seventh over. Bravo bowled a full one well outside the off-stump as Iyer attempted to drive it through the covers, but the ball took the outside edge and went straight into the gloves of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made no mistake behind the stumps.

While CSK celebrated the southpaw’s dismissal, Dwayne Bravo’s dance stole the show. The two-time T20 World Cup winner was seen mid-air rotating his index finger and swinging his hips with his right hand.

DJ Bravo of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has tied the long-standing record of most wickets held by former Mumbai Indians (MI) bowler Lasith Malinga in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

DJ Bravo took three wickets in CSK’s first match of the IPL 2022 season against KKR. He now has 170 wickets in 152 matches. Bravo’s best figures are 4/22, and he averages 24. His economy rate of 8.33 is quite impressive for a bowler who typically bowls in the death.

Chawla has 157 wickets in 165 matches, while Harbhajan has 150 wickets in 163 matches in a career that ended last year. He was a member of the KKR team that advanced to the IPL 2021 finals.

Meanwhile, in the first game of the season, KKR defeated CSK by six wickets. Despite Bravo’s efforts, KKR easily chased down CSK’s 132-run target, picking up their first points of the season. Despite some late fireworks from MS Dhoni, Kolkata restricted CSK to 131 after opting to bowl first. The poor performance of Chennai’s top-order, on the other hand, led to their defeat in the first match.
