In the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), veteran and Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo surpassed Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Lasith Malinga to become the Indian Premier League’s highest wicket-taker. On the first day of the league, he equaled Malinga’s record by taking his 170th wicket, and he went on to take his 171st in the second game to complete the feat.

Malinga was the type of bowler every batter dreaded facing. He honed the skill of bowling yorkers. Dwayne Bravo, on the other hand, has been a finisher for his team, in addition to his mastery of the bowling variation in the death overs. They’ve come a long way and are now the rulers of their respective forms.

Dwayne Bravo dismissed Deepak Hooda in the 18th over of LSG’s chase to take the lead with 171 IPL wickets in hand. He also commemorated the occasion by performing a hook step from his latest single, Number One. Bravo accomplished this feat in 153 games at a strike rate of 17.3 and an average of 24.07.

He has been a part of the Indian Premier League since its inception. He spent three years with MI before being drafted by CSK in 2011. Notably, that same year, CSK won their second consecutive title. CSK repurchased him in the mega auction prior to the IPL 2022.

Bravo has won the Purple Cap twice in the 15 editions of the IPL. He was the highest wicket-taker in 2013 as well as in 2015, but CSK lost the finals against MI in both these years.

Dwayne Bravo has performed excellently for the team of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the last few years. He also broke Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga’s record for taking most IPL wickets. Responding to this, Lasith Malinga praised Dwayne Bravo.

Malinga wrote on Twitter that Bravo is a champion bowler. Congratulations on becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. And go ahead.

In a high-scoring match against Lucknow, Bravo took the wicket of Deepak Hooda to his name. Malinga has 170 wickets in IPL and Bravo now has 171 wickets to his name. Amit Mishra’s name is included in this list of Indian bowlers. Mishra has 166 IPL wickets to his name.

Bravo started his IPL career playing for Mumbai Indians. The special thing is that Malinga also played for Mumbai for a long time. Later Bravo also played for some other teams. Apart from Chennai Super Kings, he also played for Gujarat Lions. He came back in the Chennai team and remains a part of the team till now. Chennai’s team won the title in the year 2018 and 2021 and Bravo made an important contribution. This time also Bravo’s performance will be important for Chennai Super Kings. He is more effective with the ball than with the bat. He uses slow balls very well.
