ENG vs IND: “Can’t give you details of the words” – Virat Kohli on heated argument at the Lord’s Test

Team India skipper Virat Kohli has opened up on the ugly verbal spat between him and England speedster James Anderson during the second Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The incident took place during the 17th over of India’s second innings when Kohli was at the non-striker’s end. The duo exchanged a few heated words at each other when Anderson was going back for his run-up to bowl the next delivery.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the third game, Virat Kohli remained tight-lipped on sharing the details of the argument. He said that “it was for camera and stump mic to pick that up for both teams”.

“I can’t give you details of the words that were spoken. It was for camera and stump mic to pick that up for both teams. And then we analysed. What’s done at the moment, gives you extra motivation obviously to get together as a team more strongly,” Kohli said during the virtual presser on the eve of the third Test.

“Another opportunity to show what we can do as a team” – Kohli

The Indian captain asserted that the visitors will start afresh for the Leeds Test as these things aren’t meant to be discussed again.

“The details of which are not necessary to be discussed after (it happened) because when you play competitive sport these things happen but it’s what you do after that situation or how you get up from that situation is what matters. For us this is a fresh beginning, it’s another opportunity to show what we can do as a team,” he added.

“It all depends on your mindset at the present moment. It looks good to hear all those things but you need to focus on the present,” Kohli signed off.

Team India currently leads the five-match Test series 1-0 after an outstanding victory of 151 runs in Lonon. The two teams are now set to lock horns at the Headingley Cricket Ground from August 25 onwards.
