Evan Jones is a South African batting all-rounder and a right-arm medium fast bowler but hasn’t debuted for the national side yet. As he wastes no time with the bat, he can give a good finishing touch when a few over are left. He bats at a strike rate of 145 in T20 matches. In bowling also, he has a good amount of pace than other Proteas all-rounders. If he gets the chance, he can be a surprise package for any franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
While representing the Lions in the Namibia Global T20 tournament against Lahore Qalandars, Jones’ performance rewarded him with two consecutive Player of the Match awards. In one match, his bowling figures read 5/29, while in another match, he scored 63* off just 29 balls. The lions won the tournament by beating the Qalandars by five wickets in the final.
Jones played for his high school Waterkloof High. He represented the Northerns, Northerns Cape in domestic cricket and now, he plays for the Lions. The 26-year-old was also in the Northern Under-17s squad. He is part of the Paarl Royals squad of the SA20 league in 2023. For the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, Jones has signed up for a base price of INR 20 lakhs.

Jones made his T20 debut for the Northerns in 2019 in the CSA Provincial T20 World Cup (2019-20). He played his first T20 match for the Northerns against the Free State at Benoni on September 13, 2019. He has scored 258 runs from 14 matches in T20 at a strike rate of 145.76.
His first-class debut came for the Northerns against the W Province at Cape Town (on October 17-18) in the 2019-20 season of the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. In 10 first-class matches, Jones has amassed 783 runs, with his highest being an unbeaten 157*. He also scored three centuries and four half-centuries.
The 26-year-old debuted for the same team in List A cricket against West Province at Cape Town on October 19. At a strike rate of 106.16, Jones scored 379 runs from 17 matches, with the highest being 73. But ahead of the 2021-22 domestic season, Jones became a part of the Northern Cape’s squad.
