“Maha Bakwaas” – Fans express dissatisfaction with new Punjab Kings jersey

New jerseys have been revealed for the Punjab Kings for the upcoming IPL season 2022. Red and gold have been the color scheme for Punjab Kings for years, and not much has been changed from their last year’s jersey.

The franchise changed its name from Kings XI Punjab last year in anticipation of a change in fortunes, but they have yet to win a trophy since the first edition of IPL in 2008. As a result of George Bailey’s leadership, the franchise came very close to winning the IPL 2014 title, but ultimately lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the finals. Meanwhile, the fans will be hoping that the new jersey might bring them luck.

Meanwhile, the franchise retained the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction while their previous skipper KL Rahul joined the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Agarwal was recently named the captain of the franchise for the upcoming season and they have made some really good buys in the mega auction.

The Punjab Kings have recruited veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan to open alongside Agarwal, while destructive batters like Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow will fill out the middle order, with Shahrukh Khan serving as the finisher. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar are seasoned campaigners and they will offer a lot to the franchise’s bowling department.

Here’s the new Punjab Kings Jersey

Punjab Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game of IPL 2022 on the 27th of March at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. With ten teams competing against each other in this year’s IPL, the BCCI opted to categorise the teams into two groups on the basis of their IPL titles and the number of finals they have played. Punjab Kings are placed in Group B alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Gujarat Titans.
