“Fortress Centurion breached” – Twitterati ecstatic as Team India beat South Africa; goes 1-0 up in series

Team India
The Indian cricket team has scripted history under the captaincy of Virat Kohli with their maiden Test victory in Centurion. With this outstanding triumph, the number one-ranked Test side also became the first Asian country to beat South Africa at this iconic ground.
Team India effectively won this match by 113 runs in just three-and-a-half days as the second day was completely washed out due to rain. Moreover, the Centurion Test win also marked the second time when the Asian Giants clinched four Test victories outside Asia in a calendar year (Brisbane, Lord’s, Oval, Centurion). The previous instance was back in 2018 (Johannesburg, Nottingham, Adelaide, Melbourne).
Earlier, Kohli won an important toss and opted to bat first while the Indian openers made the most of the conditions. With the help of a brilliant first-wicket partnership between KL Rahul (123) and Mayank Agarwal (60), India posted a huge total of 327 in their first innings.
In reply, SA bundled out for a mere score of 197 runs owing to a great five-wicket haul registered by speedster Mohammed Shami. However, the Indian batters couldn’t score much in their second innings as they added just 174 runs to their lead of 130 runs. And the visiting team’s bowlers continued with their magic on the last two days as well to gain a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
