The second semi-final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 is currently underway between Karnataka and Vidarbha. Meanwhile, speedster Darshan Nalkande claimed four wickets in as many deliveries in the first innings of the game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

The incident took place in the ultimate over of Karnataka’s innings on Saturday. The youngster got out Aniruddha Joshi on the 2nd ball of the over. Following this, he got the scalps of Sharath BR, J Suchtih, and Abhinav Manohar on the subsequent deliveries.

With this, he became only the second Indian bowler to take a double hat-trick in professional cricket. Former India pacer Abhimanyu Mithun is the first one to register this amazing record against his name. This had come while he was playing for Karnataka against Haryana back in 2019.

Vidarbha skipper Akshay Wadkar had earlier won the toss and asked their opponents to bowl first against Manish Pandey and Co. The southern state’s opening batters were off to a great start as captain Pandey (54 off 42) and Rohan Kadam (87 off 56) slammed outstanding half-centuries.

At number three, Abhinav Manohar also played a decent knock of 27 runs in just 13 balls. However, no other batter was able to capitalize from there as all of them failed to cross the double-digits run-mark. Hence, they posted a decent total of 176/7 on the board at the end of their quota of 20 overs.

Apart from Nalkande, Yash Thakur (one) and Lalit M Yadav (two) were also able to tick the wickets column.
