Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli’s wait for his 71st international century continues. The Indian skipper again failed to perform after getting a terrific start. India are up against England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Kennington Oval in London. Just like the previous few matches, India delivered a below-average performance in their first batting innings.

The visiting team could score only 191 runs in the first innings with skipper Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur smashing half-centuries. A low total in the first innings meant that halfway through the game, the Indian team were trailing behind by 99 runs. However, the third innings of the fourth Test saw a marvelous batting effort from the Virat Kohli-led side.

The top-order including the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Cheteshwar Pujara lived up to their reputation by producing mind-boggling performances. Rahul added 46 runs to the scoreboard while Pujara played a sublime knock of 61 runs. Meanwhile, it was Rohit Sharma who was the standout player for India.

Rohit slammed his maiden international ton to help India emerge stronger from the crisis. After a brilliant performance by the top-order, the cricket fraternity was also expecting a hundred from the skipper Virat Kohli. Coming to bat at number four when India was reeling at 236 for two, Virat looked in fine touch.

The 32-year-old gave a glimpse of his resilience and valiance by entertaining the viewers with some cover drives and straight drives. When it seemed that the Indian skipper is set in the middle and will aim for a big knock, he lost his wicket to Moeen Ali. Kohli had to go back in the 111th over after scoring 44 runs off 96 deliveries.

The Delhi-born didn’t seem much happy with his dismissal as while entering the changing room, the batsman hit the wall strongly in frustration. The video of the same has been going viral on social media.
