WATCH: Gautam Gambhir cheers for Delhi Capitals against Kolkata Knight Riders

The second semi-final of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League saw Kolkata Knight Riders locking horns with Delhi Capitals at the Sharjah Cricket Ground. The nail-biting thriller saw the Knight Riders thrashing the Capitals by three wickets to secure a place in the final against Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, a clip featuring Gautam Gambhir from the watch has gone viral on social media.
In the viral video, Gambhir can be seen cheering for Delhi Capitals as Ravichandra Ashwin picked the wicket of KKR all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The last over of the game saw KKR needing six runs off the last four balls. Ashwin caused carnage on the field as on the third delivery of the final over, he managed to send Shakib back to the pavilion.
Shakib’s wicket got Gautam Gambhir excited and he was celebrating for the same in the dugout while doing the commentary. The visuals of the former Indian opening batter supporting DC over the Knight Riders left many cricket fans shocked. Notably, Gautam played for KK for the major part of his IPL career.
Gautam Gambhir finished his IPL career with Delhi
It was under Gambhir’s captaincy that Kolkata won their first cup in 2012 followed by another victory in IPL 2014. However, Gambhir is from Delhi and he bid adieu to the Indian Premier League by playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). After leading KKR, Gambhir also led Delhi for s short period of time.
As far as the match between DC and KKR is concerned, Ashwin tried to pull off a last-over heist by scalping the second wicket in the form of Sunil Narine. However, Rahul Tripathi smashed a maximum on the second last ball of the match to take KKR home.
