There have also been some massive victory margins over the years that have left people spellbound, with the highest victory margin in ODI cricket to date being 317 runs! AUS vs AFG, Perth, 2015
David Warner’s 178 and Glenn Maxwell’s quick-fire 88 off 39 balls helped Australia set a massive target of 418 runs for Afghanistan in Perth. The visitors were bowled out for 142 in 37.3 overs. Australia won the match by 275 runs. Mitchell Johnson led the charge for the bowling attack picking up a four-wicket haul. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood also picked up two wickets each.
NZ vs IRE, Aberdeen, 2008
150+ scores from Brendon McCullum and James Marshall took New Zealand to 402/2 in their 50 overs. Three wickets apiece for Tim Southee and Micheal Mason won the match for New Zealand as Ireland were all out for 112 runs in 28.4 overs. NZ beat Ireland by 290 runs.
ZIM vs USA, Harare, 2023
Zimbabwe beat the USA in the 2023 ODI World Cup Qualifiers to register a 304-run win, making it the second biggest in history. Skipper Sean Williams’ 174 powered the team to a total of 408/6 and in return, the USA were bowled out for 104 runs. Richard Ngarwa and Sikandar Raza took two wickets each to help Zimbabwe rip through the USA batting line-up.
IND vs SL, Thiruvananthapuram, 2023
The highest victory margin in ODIs stays with India as they beat Sri Lanka by a massive 317 runs. Chasing a mammoth 391 runs in fifty overs, Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 73 in their fifty overs. India beat Sri Lanka by a whopping 317 runs at Thiruvananthapuram to clinch the three-match ODI series 3-0. After Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill’s centuries powered India to 390/5, Mohammed Siraj picked up 4 wickets in his 10 overs for 32 runs in the second innings.
