How much BCCI earned by introducing two new teams in IPL 2022?
BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) got a little more rich on October 25, Monday. The talks regarding the Indian board planning to expand the Indian Premier League (IPL) from an eight-franchise to a ten-franchise tournament have been doing rounds for over a year now. In the same light, BCCI organized a bidding process on Tuesday.
With the conclusion of the bidding process, it is learned that the two new IPL teams will have Ahmedabad and Lucknow as their home grounds. As far as the owners are concerned, the RPSG group owned by Sanjiv Goenka and the CVC Capitals have managed to get hold of the new franchises.
RPSG group submitted the highest bid amongst all the bidders. Sanjiv Goenka has brought the new IPL franchise at a mind-boggling price of INR 7090 crores. He is speculated to have bid for the Lucknow team.
CVC Capitals make the second-highest bid for a new IPL team
RPSG group isn’t new to the Indian Premier League. One of the notable companies of India previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise for two years. Pune was brought into the T20 league alongside Gujarat Lions after Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned from IPL due to match-fixing charges for two years.
Sanjiv Goenka also owns ISL franchise ATK Mohun Bagan. The second-highest bidding for the IPL team was made by CVC Capitals. It is learned that Capitals are willing to make a staggering investment of INR 5,200 to make an entry into the T20 Extravaganza.
CVC isn’t a new name in the sports fraternity. The company had recently bought LA Liga and also owns Formula One and Rugby. After selling two new teams, BCCI has earned a scintillating amount of 12,690cr (1.7 Billion dollars). They are likely to own the Ahemdabad franchise.
