‘If Jasprit Bumrah shows good form in the World Test Championship final, our chances will increase significantly,’ believes former India cricketer
Jasprit Bumrah
Former India cricketer Saba Karim commented that speedster Jasprit Bumrah will play a crucial role at the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Virat Kohli’s men are scheduled to lock with the Kiwis from June 18 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, England.
The 27-year old has turned out to be a vital cog for the national side in all three formats over the past few years. Recently, West Indies legendary fast bowler Curtly Ambrose also heaped massive praises for Bumrah. Ambrose mentioned that the Indian pacer can breach the 400 wickets mark in the coming years and will play a pivotal role at the WTC final.
Karim agreed to what Ambrose said while adding that Bumrah always has the pressure to perform and to remain fit as he’s a regular member of all the formats.
“Yes, Curtly Ambrose has said the right thing because the match is happening outside India, in Southampton in England. At this moment, the form Jasprit Bumrah has shown in the last 3-4 IPL matches, I have full belief that if Jasprit Bumrah shows good form in the World Test Championship match, our chances will increase significantly,” said Karim while speaking to India News.
“Jasprit Bumrah is the premier pace bowler of the Indian team at the moment and he is a player who represents India in multiple formats. So, he always has the pressure to perform and to remain fit,” added Karim.
‘Bumrah’s dominance has steadily increased in international cricket’: Karim
The former wicketkeeper-batsman said that Jasprit Bumrah is a unique bowler and has got good pace and bounce. He added that the spearhead has steadily increased his dominance in international cricket which is still going up
“Jasprit Bumrah has always performed in Test matches. He is a unique type of bowler, it is very difficult to pick him. Along with that, he has the pace, he bowls good short deliveries and because of that slowly and steadily his dominance in international cricket is going on increasing,” signed off Karim.
The Ahmedabad-born will be lead of the pace attack of team India, alongside Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma/Mohammed Siraj against Kane Williamson’s men.
