IND vs SL: “We will definitely go in with our best XI first” – Shikhar Dhawan ahead of T20I series

Ace opening batsman and India skipper Shikhar Dhawan has stated that he will take the field with a full-strength side during the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Sri Lanka. He has said this after India made as many as six changes in their playing XI for the final IND-SL ODI match.
Despite losing the third and final 50-over match, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side clinched the series 2-1. Now, the southpaw has cleared that they will first look to repeat this result in the shortest format as well before making any changes.
Ahead of the maiden 20-20 game, Dhawan addressed a virtual press conference where he has said:
“We have to win the series. In the last ODI, there was a good opportunity to give some youngsters a chance and give them a taste of international cricket because we had already won the series. Now it’s a new series, so we will of course go in with our best XI first. We will try to win the first two matches, and then according to the situation, we can experiment in the last game if needed.”

The 35-year-old stressed heavily on performing well in the three T20Is against Sri Lanka to cement his place in the 15-member national squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE.
“Any international match has its own impact, and whenever you perform internationally, it makes a huge impact. On a personal note, I am really looking forward to performing over here and making my place stronger for the World Cup. Then we’ll see how it goes in the future,” he asserted.
Shikhar Dhawan also reckoned that the BCCI has not put any official request for releasing Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw for the Test matches in England.
”We have not received any news as such and until we get any demand or news from BCCI, then only we will have to change our strategy. Up until now, we haven’t got any information,” concluded Dhawan.
