ENG vs IND: Indian players test negative for Covid-19
Indian Cricket Team
In what comes as a piece of good news, all the Indian players have tested positive for novel coronavirus. The negative result of the entire Team Indian means that the visitors are most likely to square off against England in the fifth Test. Virat Kohli & Men are scheduled to play the last Test of the five-match series against Joe Root & Co. in Manchester.
However, the Test match looked in trouble as on Wednesday, India’s junior physio Yogesh Parmar tested for the virus during the regular Covid-19 testing. Notably, Yogesh was the only physio present with the team and the visitors are now without a physio.
It is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to arrange a physio for the visitors. The Virat Kohli & Men was already without the services of their head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharath Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and head physio Nitin Patel. Shastri tested positive for covid-19 last week when the two sides were featuring in the Oval Test.
Indian team leading the Test series
The same was followed by Arun and Sridhar returning positive coronavirus results while Patel was asked to be in isolation as he was deemed as the close contact on the infected members.
Currently, the Indian team has an upper hand over the host England. The visitors are leading the five-match series by 2-1. The first match between the two sides ended in a draw as rain washed away the entire fifth day of the Test match. The second Test at the Lord’s saw India outclassing the host by 151 runs.
Joe Root’s side made a comeback in the third Test as they defeated India by an innings and 76 runs. However, the host failed to keep the momentum going and again succumbed to a 157-run loss to England in the fourth Test.
