IPL 2021: “Hopefully we can win the title this year for MS Dhoni” – Suresh Raina
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina
Just a couple of months before the start of the second phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Suresh Raina has expressed his wish to win the title for skipper MS Dhoni.
The 14th edition of the cash-rich league was stopped mid-way after several positive coronavirus cases were reported from various franchises. IPL 2021 is now expected to begin again in September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During a recent interaction on the Star Sports show Cricket Connected, the southpaw highlighted how Dhoni gave a lot of confidence to the players and enjoyed his captaincy as well.
“Hopefully, when we go to Dubai, we will have a camp and we can again win it for him. I think the way we were playing this year, we were having some extra confidence from his captaincy and he was enjoying each other’s success.
“He was giving freedom to all the players and having Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo and Ruturaj in the side, we had the momentum. Hopefully, we can do it again this year for MS,” Raina said during the show.
“We have immense respect for each other” – Raina
The bromance between MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina isn’t hidden from anybody as the duo shares great chemistry both on and off the field. They have played most of their cricket together for team India as well as for CSK.
Raina further went on to say that Dhoni is like a big brother to him and they have immense respect for each other.
“We’ve played a lot of matches for India as well as CSK. I think it’s just the emotion and on top of that, we have that respect for each other. I have learned a lot from him and he is like a big brother to me.
“We have won a lot of trophies together and have lost a lot of finals as well but the respect we have for each other is immense,” Suresh Raina added.
The Chennai-based franchise was placed at the second spot in the Points Table with five wins in seven matches before the tournament was suspended.
