The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be a 10-team affair with the arrival of two new teams of Ahmedabad and Lucknow. This means fans can enjoy even more matches and more players will participate in the tournament to showcase their talent at such a grand stage.
Meanwhile, the existing eight teams have revealed their lists of retained players ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, scheduled to take place in the first week of February. On the other hand, some of the top names will try their luck while going under the hammer. Here are the top five overseas players who might grab big bucks at the IPL 2022 mega auction:
Rashid Khan
One of the greatest T20 bowlers of all time, Rashid Khan, was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after being considered the second-choice player. However, the Afghan cricketer didn’t agree to this and wanted to try his luck at the mega auction. Moreover, he is also reportedly in touch with the Lucknow franchise for the upcoming season.

David Warner
Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper and opening batter David Warner was one of the talked-about cricketers in the previous IPL edition. After being sacked from the captaincy role, he was further dropped from the playing XI too. However, his recent form and records will surely ignite a bidding war at the auction table.
Trent Boult
Ace Kiwi speedster Trent Boult needs no introduction owing to great achievements with extraordinary swing bowling across formats. Alongside Bumrah, he was the frontline bowler of Mumbai Indians (MI) in leading them to their fifth title win in 2020. He will surely be the pace-attack leader of a new side in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league.
Jofra Archer
Fast bowler Jofra Archer has impressed all with his sheer pace, bounce and awkward action ever since he made his debut for the English team However, the 26-year-old was ruled out of the previous IPL due to a long-term elbow injury. His ability will grab the eyeballs of many franchise owners present at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow was surprisingly missing from the retained players’ list of the Hyderabad-based franchise. The Englishman has amassed a lot of runs for the ‘Orange Army’ since his debut in 2019. Many franchises will be in search of adding a quality wicket-keeper to their side and Bairstow can be the go-to man.
