Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced their full support staff team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has regained his spot as the head coach of the side after serving as team’s Director of Cricket during Trevor Bayliss’ tenure in the last couple of years.
Notably, Moody was SRH’s head coach between 2013 and 2019 where they even lifted their maiden title in 2016. Apart from him, the ‘Orange Army’ has also got on board the services of West Indies batting legend Brian Lara as the strategic advisor and batting coach.
Former Australian opening batter Simon Katich has joined as the assistant coach, who was earlier the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2021. The 46-year-old was even associated with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous editions of the cash-rich league.
Muttiah Muralitharan continues as spin-bowling coach
Veteran Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who was SRH’s bowling mentor in IPL 2021, has been appointed as their strategy and spin-bowling coach ahead of the forthcoming season.
The last year’s bottom-placed team has further strengthened themselves with the arrival of South Africa’s Dale Steyn as their fast-bowling coach. Interestingly, the right-arm quick was previously associated with SRH during his active days. Former Indian left-handed batter Hemang Badani has joined the Kane Williamson-led side as the fielding coach and scout.
Earlier, they had retained the youngsters in the form of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik apart from Williamson. Surprisingly, they had let go of the likes of T20 legends David Warner and Rashid Khan for IPL 2022.
