Can SRH still qualify for the play-offs of IPL 2022? What are the possible scenarios ?
SRH
Kane Williamson led SRH lost their 5th successive game last night as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated them by 54 runs. SRH now sit 8th on the points table with 10 points in 12 games. The team’s net run rate has also slipped to -0.270. This means that SRH can now amass a maximum of 14 points which may not be enough to ensure qualification.
However, that does not mean that SRH are out of the race for Top 4. Although Sunrisers Hyderabad will need other teams to lose certain games in order to make sure they get a place on the 4th place or even 3rd place as of now. Above all, Sunrises Hyderabad have to win their last 2 games against Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.

What results need to go SRH’s way to ensure team’s qualification ?
Like KKR, Sunrisers cannot amass more than 14 points. Hence, the team’s biggest hurdle is Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore who already have 14 points with games in hand. RCB have a worse NRR than Sunrisers. Hence, if they lose their last game and SRH win their remaining two, they will finish above RCB. Moreover, with Rajasthan also at 14, they need to lose their remaining two so that it is a 14 point tie for the 3rd and 4th place.
Up next, Hyderabad also need Punjab to beat Delhi Capitals in their next game and then themselves beat Punjab in their last game so that all 3 teams are stuck at 14 points or lower. Since KKR have a better NRR than SRH, Kane Williamson’s side will be hoping that LSG can beat KKR in their final game.
If all goes according to the above scenario, Williamson led Hyderabad could be looking at finishing 3rd on the points table. However, like KKR, if Rajasthan and RCB both win their remaining games, SRH is out of play-off contention.
