Moeen Ali full of praise for teammate Devon Conway; says marriage is working for him

Devon Conway
Chennai Super Kings recorded a superb 91-run victory against Delhi Capitals last night. Thanks to a superb batting performance by Devon Conway who led the charge with a blistering 87 off 49 deliveries. Helping Chennai put a massive 208 on board. This was Devon Conway’s 3rd back to back 50 in the IPL. The Kiwi player has now managed 231 runs in just 4 games this season striking at 155.5.
Chennai were also helped with Englishman, Moeen Ali‘s performance with the ball. The Englishman ended with figures 13/3 in 4 overs getting big names like Mitchel Marsh and Rishab Pant. However, Ali was full of praise for Devon Conway and MS Dhoni when asked about the match. The 34-year-old said this on Twitter.

In a video shared by CSK’s official Twitter handle, the all-rounder said, “Yeah, obviously marriage has been working for him and he has been doing well ever since. Look, he is somebody who gets a lot of runs, he is a run-getter and he and Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) have started getting partnerships which we need, which we needed obviously after Faf (Du Plessis) leaving or going. It’s great going forward and he’s a brilliant player, he’s got great shots. It’s been really well and I’m really happy for him.”
The victory keeps Chennai’s chances of qualifications alive but they remain very bleak. They need other team’s to lose certain matches if they stand a chance to finish top 4, an unlikely feat. But the team will be happy with their performance last night. Even though, Ravindra Jadeja was missing, his absence wasn’t felt.
Devon Conway’s consistent performances could set up a great future opening pair for the team. The Kiwi along with Rituraj Gaikwad could pave the way for a strong batting lineup that has been missing in Chennai this season.
