IPL: WATCH – Virat Kohli consoles Ishan Kishan as the youngster almost cried after MI’s loss against RCB
Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan
India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli took a moment and spent some time with Mumbai Indians (MI) youngster Ishan Kishan on Sunday. Kohli put his arm around Kishan’s shoulder after the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
The southpaw looked utterly distraught owing to his dry run in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Kishan, who grabbed everyone’s eyeballs with his scintillating batting performance in IPL 2020, was even selected in the Indian squad for the much-awaited 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The 23-year-old smashed 516 runs at an average of over 57 for Mumbai Indians during their victorious campaign last year.
However, Ishan Kishan has not been able to replicate his form here as he has scored just 107 runs in eight innings, averaging 13.38. His strike rate of 86.99 has also been worrisome for the Mumbai-based franchise.
His poor form still continues as he managed to score nine runs off 12 deliveries in the game against RCB. The Jharkhand cricketer was on the verge of crying when Kohli was seen giving a pep talk to him after the match in Dubai.

Mammoth victory for RCB; retains third spot in Points Table
Coming to the result of the game, the Challengers posted a competitive total of 165/6 on the board at the end of their 20 overs. Virat (51) and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (56) smashed terrific half-centuries.
In reply, Mumbai Indians were off to a great start as their openers Rohit Sharma (43) and QDK (24) stitched a decent partnership of 57 runs. However, no other MI batter was able to touch the two-digit run-mark and this resulted in a one-sided win for RCB by 54 runs.
Most of the RCB bowlers produced outstanding spells while Harshal Patel even went on to claim the maiden hat-trick of IPL 2021. Yuzvendra Chahal also bowled a sensational spell of 4-1-11-3 in the game.
