Team India is rising in the rankings on the T20 format. Recently, Team India is playing matches overflowing with victory. Winning 12 consecutive T20 games isn’t the only amazing feat, they also defeated Sri Lanka at home and New Zealand and the West Indies in a series of three on their way to success. During the T20 World Cup last year they won three matches of their own.
Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India seems to be getting things in line, or should it be that just one piece is missing? However, former cricketer Irfan Pathan feels that one piece of this puzzle is still missing, and India will have to start giving chances to left-arm pacers. For the side to be able to produce in the latter tournament this year -the T20 World Cup- that is taking place in Australia.

“With all these names (the Indian bowlers already part of the squad), I just want to add another name — that of a left-arm bowler, and that can be whoever performs in the IPL — Khaleel Ahmed, Natarajan or Chetan Sakariya. I know Sakariya is a bit rusty at the moment, but if he performs in the IPL, he will be an option. Left is always right!” he said while speaking on Star Sports.
Irfan Pathan spent his time assessing current players such as Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan and Chetan Sakariya who are left-arm pacers. Irfan feels that Sakariya could be a quality player for the India national cricket team if he performs well in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
The three bowlers Irfan mentioned have not played for India over the last few months and have had a mix of performance, injury, time away from the national team, or position on the squad. T Natarajan had brilliantly made his debut by playing for the Indian National team across all formats. However, he got into injury and seemed to recover. Back in 2020-21 Khaleel Ahmed last played for India and soon saw himself falling in ranking. Chetan Sakariya was an international bowler who made his debut during the Sri Lanka tour by playing two T20I and One ODI.
